Boston Arts Academy Governing Board 2009-2010
By virtue of the Boston Arts Academy’s pilot school status, the school assembles its own governing board to act as the School Site Council. The Board sets the overall mission, philosophy, and policies of the school to ensure the best possible education for Arts Academy students. In addition the Board provides fiduciary oversight and supports the school’s fundraising activities.
Boston Arts Academy's Board of Trustees reflects the diversity of the school’s constituencies. Representation includes two college presidents from the Pro Arts Consortium institutions, two BAA Foundation members, two faculty members, two parent representatives, and one BAA student. The two remaining members of the Board are drawn from the wider community. In addition, the Co-Headmasters serve in an ex-officio capacity.

Leadership Team
The school’s Leadership Team is comprised of the Headmaster, the Assistant Headmaster, Artistic Dean, Curriculum Coordinator, Family Coordinator, Head of Student Support, the Executive Director of the Boston Arts Academy Foundation, and two faculty members. The Leadership Team meets weekly to plan faculty meetings and discuss issues that are more efficiently addressed by a group smaller than the faculty and staff as a whole.
Faculty
Two members of the faculty are elected by their peers to serve a two-year term on the BAA Board of Trustees. In addition, two members of the faculty sit on the Leadership Team. The faculty also designs the curricula in both the arts and academics in concert with the Headmaster, Artistic Dean, and Curriculum Coordinator. The curricula are reflections of the educational philosophy that the faculty as a whole has developed during intensive workshops, retreats, faculty meetings, arts team and academic team meetings during the school’s first three years.
Student Government
Student Government representatives are elected at the end of each year, to serve a term the following year. Ninth grade representatives are elected in the fall. Each grade selects four or five students for representation. Student Government is advised by faculty members and meets weekly. Student Government works closely with Leadership Team to determine student activities, including student fund-raising.
