Stephen Ly
Math Faculty

Mr. Ly is excited to be beginning his second year as a full-time faculty member at the Boston Arts Academy.  Before arriving in the fall of 2004 as a BAA teaching intern, Mr. Ly taught math for the Steppingstone Academy and for New England Citybridge.  He received his B.A. in Engineering Sciences from Harvard College and earned his teaching license through Harvard’s Undergraduate Teacher Education Program.  As an undergraduate, Mr. Ly directed BRYE 1-2-1, a mentoring organization that works with youth from the refugee and immigrant communities in Dorchester, MA.  For his efforts with this organization, he was awarded the Neil J. Houston Public Service Award.  In addition to teaching at the Boston Arts Academy, Mr. Ly is currently working towards a M.Ed. in the Specialized Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.  He is particularly interested in finding ways to use technology, science, and the arts to make math more accessible and meaningful to all students.  In his free time, he enjoys reading, exploring new places, watching and playing sports, participating in his church community, and spending time with his family.
