Joanna Lawrence
Educational Interpreter
Joanna became interested in American Sign Language at the age of 13 and made the decision to become an interpreter at 16. She attended Boston Latin Academy and Brockton High School before moving on to Northeastern University to study American Sign Language interpreting.
Joanna worked at the Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for 5 years in the positions of Receptionist and Interpreter Referral Specialist. Her arts background is rooted mainly in theater. She has performed in several plays and musicals and was employed for over a year at the Berkley Center for Performing Arts, in Brockton, as a theater technician where she had the opportunity to get hands on experience with almost all aspects of backstage work.
